Eddie Hearn thinks Floyd Mayweather vs. Ryan Garcia is happening, and he is picking Floyd.
Garcia recently announced on X that he and Mayweather agreed to fight for his WBC welterweight title. The Matchroom boss told Boxing News that he backs a real fight over another exhibition.
I hate seeing Floyd Mayweather do these exhibitions. If he wants to come back and fight Ryan Garcia, I’m all for it… because that’s a real fight.
You’ve got a WBC, reigning 147lb champion. By the way, I think Floyd beats him. But to come back and do it, that’s actually a sign of greatness.
As I understand it, Ryan Garcia against Floyd Mayweather is on.
Mayweather, 49, hasn’t fought professionally since stopping Conor McGregor in the 10th round in 2017. Garcia is coming off a second-round stoppage of Conor Benn last month in his first title defense.
Hearn isn’t alone in picking Mayweather. Terence Crawford mocked Garcia for the callout and said Floyd would beat him.
Questions remain about whether Mayweather can fight at all. CSI Sports has sued him for $4.65 million in advances tied to planned bouts with Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather has not publicly confirmed a deal with Garcia.
