Anthony Joshua broke his silence with a cryptic message on Thursday as his fight with Tyson Fury was made official for December 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, live on Netflix.
Joshua posted two photos of himself in a white tuxedo and bow tie in front of a Union Jack on X and Instagram. “The quietest ones often pull the strings,” he wrote, before adding, “Let them shout first, the wisest wait until the final move.”
He did not name Fury or address the negotiations directly. The post follows a September in which Fury threatened to move on to other opponents and called out Oleksandr Usyk for a November fight, while questioning whether Joshua wanted the bout at all.
Turki Alalshikh announced the date and venue Thursday, and Joshua later shared the fight poster with the message “I am inspiring a generation.” The Netflix announcement names The Ring and Dana White as collaborators on the promotion, although Eddie Hearn insists White is not involved in the fight.
The fight came close to leaving Britain. Madison Square Garden was pushed as an option, but Joshua and Hearn insisted on a UK venue, and Joshua’s contract with the Saudi organizers required one.
Fury and Joshua are scheduled to attend a press conference in London on September 30. Undercard opponents have not been named.
