Tyson Fury says he is done waiting on Anthony Joshua. Both men signed contracts earlier this year. The fight has been stuck ever since over where it takes place, with a November 20 date closing in and no agreement on a venue. Fury used social media to say he will not sit on it much longer.
One thing for sure is I won’t wait for a sausage who has been knocked spark out by Daniel Dubois for long.
I’ve waited 10 years for this and I’ve been ready every single time. One thing I won’t be doing is wasting my later years at 38 year old with a freak who doesn’t want to fight.
Then he named replacements.
I will move on and there are plenty of world champions out there who do want to fight and do want to make some money so I’ll be giving them a knock. There are plenty of men.
Agit Kabayel, Hrgovic, Daniel Dubois, whoever else there is, they’re all very brave men and all looking for a few quid. Maybe I’ll give them a call and they can fight me in November as this is going nowhere.
Two of the three are spoken for. Daniel Dubois rematches Fabio Wardley on October 17th with the WBO title on the line. Filip Hrgovic took the vacant IBF belt on Saturday by stopping Moses Itauma at the O2 Arena, and Frank Warren has pointed to Frank Sanchez as the likely next move, though Hrgovic himself called for a unification with Dubois or Agit Kabayel.
That leaves Kabayel as the realistic one. He was handed the WBC title after Oleksandr Usyk vacated it this summer, having been the mandatory challenger at the time.
The Joshua fight is not dead yet. Eddie Hearn says there will be a resolution this week. Joshua’s contract has the fight in Britain, and Hearn has said Madison Square Garden can still happen if Sela signs Matchroom’s addendum.
