Tim Bradley thinks Shakur Stevenson’s Zuffa Boxing exit comes down to one number.
Stevenson left Zuffa Boxing this week without fighting for the promotion and plans to start his own company. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Hall of Famer said Stevenson made a mistake.
I wish you nothing but luck… but I just feel like you dropped the ball here. And this is all done because you’re afraid to lose that 0.
Bradley said it can’t be about money or legacy.
Obviously, you showed it ain’t about the money. What is it about, legacy? No, it ain’t about legacy because if it was, you would have [done] what you had to do. You looking silly as hell trying to protect that 0.
That 0 don’t define you, brother, but what does define you [are] the challenges you are willing to take and endure. That’s what counts. That’s what the fans tune in for.
Stevenson, 29, became a four-division world champion in January with a unanimous decision over Teofimo Lopez for the WBO super lightweight title. He has been linked to Devin Haney and Gary Antuanne Russell since, but he has no fight scheduled. He recently explained what nixed the Haney fight.
Others have blamed Zuffa instead. Eddie Hearn ripped Dana White after the split, calling Zuffa’s handling of Stevenson a “disaster.”
