Dana White Finally Addresses Shakur Stevenson Split

Dana White says he offered Shakur Stevenson his release from Zuffa Boxing and has nothing bad to say about him after the two sides split without a fight.

Dana White has finally addressed Shakur Stevenson’s exit from Zuffa Boxing, and he isn’t taking shots.

Asked about it at a UFC press conference, White said he offered Stevenson the release.

I offered him the release.

White was then asked whether Stevenson had been difficult to work with.

Listen, man, I think that everyone involved in it is happy with where we’re at with it. I’ve nothing bad to say about him or his team. I offered him the release and they accepted.

We never even did one fight with the guy. We were in business with him for a couple months. Listen, I’m not going to get into all this. I’m not gonna say anything negative about him… We got to a position where we both agreed we were cool with the release.

Stevenson announced last week that his request to leave had been granted. He signed with Zuffa in July and said he spent about eight weeks in camp for fights that never happened. He plans to start his own promotional company.

Rival promoters have piled on. Eddie Hearn called the situation a disaster for Zuffa, while Tim Bradley accused Stevenson of protecting his unbeaten record.
