Even when he suffered an apparent shoulder injury during the quick heavyweight contest, Da’Mazion Vanhouter wasn’t stopped from a dominant outing, defeating Raphael Akpejiori in the last non-title fight of the Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn card in Las Vegas.
Vanhouter was on the attack early, working his power and combinations from the get-go and scoring a knockdown of Akpejiori just over a minute into the fight.
Not long after the fight resumed, however, something appeared to be wrong. Replays showed Vanhouter’s arm being extended when leaning in while attacking, causing what appears to be a separated shoulder.
That ended up not mattering, however. Seconds later, more powerful punching from Vanhouter, namely his right hand, brought the fight to an emphatic conclusion in his favor.
Vanhouter is now 13-0. He now has back-to-back first-round knockouts, and he’s scored first-round KOs in six of his last seven fights — and nine of his 13 fights overall.
