Ryan Garcia made things look easy, dominating Conor Benn to a quick second-round TKO to retain the WBC welterweight championship in Las Vegas.
Benn looked to be the forward fighter, but Garcia stayed composed on the outside, landing a couple of solid left hooks to start. The two threw with fire early, with Garcia landing several hooks during the frame, while Benn found some inside success.
Garcia landed a hook that got Benn off balance early in the second. Not long after, Garcia landed a bomb of a right hand that dropped Benn to the mat. Benn returned to the feet, but Garcia pounced, continuing to wallop Benn with punches in bunches until the referee stopped the fight.
This was Garcia’s first defense of the WBC title since winning it by defeating Mario Barrios in February.
Following the fight, Garcia called out Teofimo Lopez on the mic, leading to officials separating the two before Lopez could get into the ring.
