Gervonta Davis isn’t ruling out a rematch with Ryan Garcia after Garcia’s dominant knockout of Conor Benn but ‘Tank’ wants some concessions of his own this time.
Garcia stopped Benn in the second round on September 12 in Las Vegas to retain his WBC welterweight title, reigniting chatter about a potential rematch with Davis, who beat Garcia by body-shot knockout back in 2023.
That first fight came with an asterisk: Garcia was locked into a rigid rehydration clause that limited him to 146 pounds on fight night despite making the 136-pound lightweight limit, a restriction that left him visibly drained.
Garcia believes the heavyweight cut cost him the fight, and he has been champing at the bit to get a rematch ever since.
Garcia responded on social media, pushing back on the idea that Davis was hesitant and challenging him to instead come all the way up to their current welterweight limit of 147, framing it as fair given how much weight he’d cut for their first meeting.
I would go to 140[lbs], but not 147[lbs] for him,” Davis said of a possible rematch on Instagram.
Davis hasn’t fought since a March 2025 draw with Lamont Roach Jr. and had been prepping for an exhibition against Jake Paul before that fell through amid Paul’s legal issues.
With Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson, and a Devin Haney rematch also floated as options for Garcia, a second Davis fight remains just one of several massive paydays now on the table for the WBC champion.
