DAZN has reportedly agreed a deal to acquire a controlling interest in The Ring from owner Turki Alalshikh, according to Total Boxing. DAZN declined to confirm or deny the report.
Multiple sources told Total Boxing the deal has been agreed. One said, “Turki sold controlling interest of The Ring magazine and belt to DAZN.” A second source, asked to confirm it, replied, “Yes, quite a while ago.”
Neither DAZN nor The Ring has publicly confirmed a change of control. Nothing has been said about what it would mean for the magazine’s editorial operation, rankings, championship policy, promotional activity or print edition.
The Ring’s existing ties to DAZN
Alalshikh finalized a deal to buy The Ring in November 2024 from Oscar De La Hoya, reportedly for $10 million. He said at the time the magazine would run as a fully independent company with no involvement from Riyadh Season.
The Ring has since expanded into staging events with promotional partners, which Total Boxing says prompted questions about potential conflicts of interest. Alalshikh is also a backer of Zuffa Boxing, the TKO-backed promotion whose fights air on Paramount+.
DAZN has streamed The Ring’s event series since Alalshikh took over. In July 2025, Alalshikh announced that all Riyadh Season and Ring events would be free to DAZN subscribers, ending pay-per-view for those shows. Saudi Arabia’s SURJ Sports Investment, a unit of the Public Investment Fund, also took a minority stake in DAZN in February 2025.
Total Boxing also reported that one insider believes Alalshikh could leave the sport by the end of the year. There is no confirmation that the reported Ring transaction is part of a wider withdrawal.
Alalshikh asked Eddie Hearn, Frank Warren and Nick Khan this week to help deliver his boxing wishlist.
