Danny Garcia says he would come out of retirement to fight Manny Pacquiao.
Speaking on The Last Stand podcast, the former two-division champion said he heard his name was on a list of possible opponents. No one has contacted him directly.
My partner, Mike, he was speaking to somebody and said I was on a list of potential fights for Manny, but I don’t know how real it was cause I never spoke to anybody. It was just, ‘your name’s on the list and he might fight you.'
Garcia doubts Pacquiao will pick him, but he is open to it.
In the back of my mind, I can’t see Manny Pacquiao fighting me. I still can punch, I’m bigger than him… I mean, I’m here if he wants to choose me.
To be honest, there’s only a couple of fights that would make me come out of retirement. Of course Manny Pacquiao’s one.
He named Floyd Mayweather as the other.
Pacquiao, 47, has been linked to a spot on the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua card on Dec. 11 in Cardiff, Wales, which streams on Netflix. Garcia and Amir Khan have reportedly both been discussed as opponents. Shakur Stevenson’s name also came up, but his promoter, Dana White, ruled it out.
Pacquiao returned last year and fought Mario Barrios to a draw for the WBC welterweight title. A planned rematch with Mayweather has been postponed indefinitely.
Garcia, 38, retired in October 2025 after knocking out Daniel Gonzalez in a farewell fight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Erislandy Lara had stopped him in the ninth round in September 2024.
Garcia held unified titles at 140 pounds and later won the WBC welterweight title. His best wins came against Erik Morales, Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse and Zab Judah.
