The WBA lightweight title has been in limbo since January. It finally has a fight attached to it.
Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi will meet for the vacant belt on Saturday, October 10, according to Schofield’s manager Michael Miller, who told Ring Magazine that Golden Boy Promotions and Most Valuable Promotions have come to terms.
The fight will take place on October 10 and we are 99% sure it will be in Las Vegas.

Getting here has taken most of the year. The WBA moved Gervonta Davis to champion in recess in January after prolonged inactivity, with the intention that its top two contenders fight for the belt and the winner face Davis first. Schofield and Bahdi were due in April. Reports of a Davis return scrapped that, then a Davis vs. Schofield vacant title fight was floated and fell away as legal issues kept Davis out. The WBA re-ordered Schofield vs. Bahdi, and purse bids set for Tuesday were pushed back a week to let the promoters get it done.
The delay has cost both men. Schofield has not fought since stopping Tevin Farmer in the first round in June 2025, and had been out since November 2024 before that. Bahdi last appeared in August 2025, outpointing Roger Gutierrez after fourteen months away.
Davis has not fought since his March 2025 draw with Lamont Roach. He has been linked with Devin Haney and Isaac Cruz, and has no return date.
