Luke Campbell has been retired for five years. Conor Benn might be enough to change that.
The 2012 Olympic gold medallist told Seconds Out he would return for a fight with Benn, who was stopped in the second round by Ryan Garcia last weekend at T-Mobile Arena.
If he’s struggling for opponents, I might make a comeback. That’s probably one fight that would excite me and get the buzz back on.
Benn’s WBC welterweight title challenge was his first fight at 147lbs since 2022, the year he tested positive for the banned substance clomifene. The loss has left questions about where he fits at world level, though he remains a draw under Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing banner. Benn had already talked about moving up to middleweight or super-middleweight, where a third fight with Chris Eubank Jr is the obvious move.
Campbell, 38, retired in 2021 at 20-4 after a seventh-round stoppage loss to Garcia. He fell short in two world title shots before that, losing a split decision to Jorge Linares in 2017 and a unanimous decision to Vasyl Lomachenko in 2019.
