Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi, both unbeaten, fight for the vacant WBA lightweight title on Saturday, October 10, at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, live on DAZN. Golden Boy Promotions and Most Valuable Promotions co-promote the card.

What’s at stake

The belt has been in limbo since the WBA moved Gervonta Davis to champion in recess, and the fight to fill it took most of the year to make. The WBA ordered its top two contenders, Schofield at No. 1 and Bahdi at No. 2, to meet, and Golden Boy and MVP reached a deal before a purse bid.

It is Schofield’s first world-title opportunity. Davis, meanwhile, is targeting a return in early 2027.

The case for each fighter

Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs) was due to challenge Shakur Stevenson in February 2025 but pulled out days before the fight after being hospitalized with an illness. His last fight was a first-round stoppage of Tevin Farmer in June 2025. He said in a promotional release that it is time to “let my fists do the talking.”

Bahdi (20-0, 15 KOs), a 32-year-old Canadian, won his first 11 pro fights by knockout and made his name in 2024 by knocking out Ashton Sylve. He most recently beat Roger Gutierrez by unanimous decision. In the same release, Bahdi said he is “extremely appreciative of this opportunity.”

In the co-feature, Ricardo Sandoval (27-2, 18 KOs) defends his WBA and WBC flyweight titles against Sergio Mendoza (27-1, 23 KOs) of Mexico. Mendoza replaced Oscar Collazo, who withdrew with a rib injury, according to FightMag.
