EA Sports confirmed Tuesday that Fight Night is coming back, 15 years after the boxing series last released a game, but the teaser came with no platforms, release window or gameplay details.
“To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back,” the post on the new EA Sports Fight Night account on X reads. It pairs the line with an image of red boxing gloves hanging over an empty ring and the tagline “The fight is never over.” The account’s bio reads “Back into the ring” and lists the game’s ESRB rating as pending. EA Sports has not said when it will share more.
The last entry was Fight Night Champion in 2011, the fifth game in a series that began in 2004. EA Sports has since put its combat sports focus into UFC, and released the sixth edition of that series earlier this year.
The announcement arrives weeks after Insider Gaming reported, citing anonymous sources, that EA’s original plans for a Fight Night return were cancelled roughly a year ago. That report said the group led by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, which closed its purchase of EA in August, could still restart the series given Saudi Arabia’s major stake in boxing, though “anything that happens will be brand new.” Insider Gaming now says the timeline for that decision is unknown.
Saudi Arabia is also hosting Canelo Alvarez vs. Christian Mbilli in Riyadh on October 31.
EA used a similar teaser to announce College Football’s return in 2021, and College Football 25 arrived about three years after that reveal, according to Shacknews.
