Terence Crawford doesn’t think Christian Mbilli can outbox Canelo Alvarez.
Mbilli defends the WBC super middleweight title against Canelo on October 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Crawford, who beat Canelo for the undisputed title in September 2025, gave his read during a broadcast this weekend.
Styles make fights, and his [Mbilli’s] style is tailor-made for Canelo. He can’t do nothing but press Canelo.
Crawford said he doesn’t see Mbilli beating Canelo in a boxing match. He laid out the path he sees instead.
I think his best success will be letting his hands go, roughing Canelo up and making it a dog fight.
Crawford retired after the Canelo win, and his four titles became vacant. The WBC upgraded Mbilli from interim to full champion.
Both men have been out for more than a year. Mbilli last fought on the Canelo-Crawford undercard, drawing with Lester Martinez.
The fight is still set to go ahead despite deadly attacks on Riyadh’s main airport earlier this month. Turki Alalshikh has said Canelo told him he would fight “no matter what.”
