Zuffa Boxing promoter Dana White thinks Terence Crawford will fight again, but he isn’t convinced a bout with Ryan Garcia is what brings him back.
Crawford, announced his retirement last December after moving up two weight classes to beat Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision at super middleweight, a win that made him a three-division undisputed champion.
A more natural home for his frame would be 147 or 154 pounds, which is why he has been linked with Jaron “Boots” Ennis and, more recently, Garcia.
The Garcia idea gained traction after The Ring’s Mike Coppinger reported that Garcia vs Crawford was being considered as a possible replacement for Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. That fight is set for Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, but issues behind the scenes have left it looking shaky.
Crawford himself has reportedly expressed bewilderment at the rumor. Garcia retained his WBC welterweight title with a second-round stoppage of Conor Benn earlier this month.
Asked about it at a Zuffa press conference, White said he doesn’t know whether Garcia is the fight Crawford would return for. He pointed out that Garcia has plenty of options, and framed the real question as “what is the fight that Crawford would come back for?” White said he believes such a fight exists, but he doesn’t know if Garcia fits.

“I think there’s a fight out there that Crawford would come back for, [but] I don’t know if Ryan’s it.
White has claimed involvement in the negotiations around Fury-Joshua, though whether Zuffa would have any promotional role if the fight goes ahead remains unclear.
