Conor Benn recently escalated his war of words with Ryan Garcia by resurfacing one of the most painful moments of Garcia’s career, posting a photo of the American on one knee during his 2023 knockout loss to Gervonta Davis and taunting him for quitting.

It was certainly a calculated jab that depicted how both fighters are mining each other’s records for ammunition ahead of their September showdown.

The back-and-forth kicked off when Garcia posted on X:

Boxing is one on one, the reason I started boxing, no one to lean on. I’m ending you.

Benn answered by weaponizing Garcia’s seventh-round collapse against Davis, framing it as evidence of mental weakness.

One on One… you quit! I stand and fight, proven! Hope you’re ready to dig in deep kid,” Benn wrote alongside the image.

Benn’s attack zeroes in on Garcia’s defeat to Davis, a fight in which Garcia was unable to beat the count after a crushing body shot. It has been noted that the critics have repeatedly raised that loss whenever Garcia’s toughness is debated, making it an obvious target for Benn as the two trade increasingly personal warnings ahead of the fight.

Both Fighters Have Ammunition

Garcia has spent much of the verbal battle questioning Benn’s credibility, repeatedly taking aim at his record and the controversies surrounding his career. There is an element of “it takes one to know one” to the insults, with neither man able to claim the high ground.

Benn has never quit in the ring, but his recent performances have done little to strengthen his standing. The explosive form he showed stopping veterans such as Chris Algieri and Chris Van Heerden created the impression of a genuine contender, yet since returning, he has looked far more ordinary, leading many fans to conclude they had overrated him.

The British boxer also carries a 25-1 record with 14 knockouts, most recently outpointing Regis Prograis by unanimous decision on April 11, 2026.

He is ranked No. 1 by the WBC and No. 4 by the WBA, and stands as the WBC mandatory challenger for the welterweight title held by Mario Barrios.

The trade of insults comes as the two prepare for their September 12 clash in Las Vegas. Terence Crawford has already weighed in with a bold prediction on the matchup, adding to the noise around a fight that both men insist they will win by hurting the other.
