Zuffa Boxing has signed Washington D.C. light heavyweight prospect Nasheed “Sugar Sheed” Smith, the promotion confirmed via BoxingScene.

Smith, 25, is 10-0 with 7 knockouts and trains under Barry Hunter at Headbangers Gym in D.C. The 6-foot-2 southpaw has stopped six of his opponents inside two rounds and most recently went the distance for a decision win over Michael Nelson.

Hunter, who also manages Smith, has previously worked with Gervonta Davis, Lamont Peterson, Isaac Dogboe, Adrien Broner, Austin Trout, and Sharmba Mitchell.

Smith began his athletic career in taekwondo before finding Hunter’s gym at age 10. As an amateur he won the 2022 National Golden Gloves and USA National Championships before turning professional.

Washington, DC, has produced many great fighters, and I am proud to follow in that tradition. This is the start of the ‘Sugar Sheed’ era, and I’m looking to take over the light heavyweight division.
