Despite the scare, both British heavyweights will now turn their full attention to one another, with the fight expected to land in November.
There’s no guarantee for UK fans that it happens on home soil, either. Madison Square Garden in New York is believed to be the current frontrunner to host the clash between the two former world champions.
The wobble also gave the skeptics fresh ammunition. At least one prominent trainer has already declared Joshua “shot to bits” after the Prenga performance, a verdict that will only add intrigue to the biggest all-British fight in years.
