Oliver McCall is 61 years old and still taking fights.
The man who knocked out Lennox Lewis in 1994 is lined up to face Ike Ibeabuchi on November 26 in New York, per BoxingScene. Ibeabuchi is 53. Their combined age is 114.
The bout only happens if the public pays for it first. PrizeFightingTV is selling the pay-per-view in advance at $9.95 and needs 12,500 buyers by October 31. Miss the number and the show is scrapped, with every buyer refunded.
McCall shocked Lewis in the second round at Wembley to take the WBC heavyweight title, ending the Briton’s unbeaten run. Lewis had won the vacant belt against Tony Tucker and defended it against Frank Bruno and Phil Jackson. He got his revenge in the vacant-title rematch in February 1997, a strange fight that ended with McCall in tears in the ring.
Only McCall and Hasim Rahman ever beat Lewis as a professional.
McCall never walked away. He went 2-0-1 across three fights between November 2024 and June 2025, starting with a stoppage of Stacy Frazier. That fight made him the oldest former heavyweight champion to compete in a licensed professional bout, taking a record Mike Tyson had set five days earlier against Jake Paul. He sits at 61-14-1 with 40 knockouts and has never been stopped.
Ibeabuchi beat David Tua and Chris Byrd in the 1990s and looked bound for a title shot before his arrest ended that run. He returned last year in Nigeria after 26 years away, stopping Idris Afinni before dropping a decision to Kabiru Towolawi. He is 21-1.
The matchup has drawn heavy criticism from within the sport.
