Terence Crawford’s trainer says the comeback talk is going nowhere.
Brian “BoMac” McIntyre was asked by BoxingScene about speculation prompted by recent footage of Crawford training.
Hell no, he ain’t coming back. He’s done. He don’t need to come back.
He said Crawford is in the gym regularly and looks the part, but is there to help other fighters.
I mean, he’s looking sharp, man. His weight is fine. He’s always in the gym, always playing basketball, always on the move, always training. So he looks good.
You want one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of all time to just come down and hang out and stay with you guys and give his assessments on how things are looking, giving Lester some pointers here and there. That’s just gratifying to the coaches because he cares.
The Lester in question is Lester Martinez, who fights Luka Plantic on August 29. Martinez drew with Christian Mbilli last year, and Mbilli defends the WBC super-middleweight title against Canelo Alvarez on October 31 in Riyadh.
Crawford retired in December, three months after beating Canelo, with a record of 42-0 and world titles in five divisions.
