Terence Crawford is not biting on the comeback talk.
Dana White fed the speculation on Saturday, suggesting the right matchup could pull Crawford back into the ring.
There is always a number. For a guy like Crawford it’s more than just a number, it’s the right fight.
Crawford heard it and came away unconvinced. He told Seconds Out he has no idea what White is picturing.
I heard [White say that] and I still don’t know what fight he is talking about. So, I’m like ‘OK’.
Crawford retired last December at 42-0, the only man to go undisputed in three weight classes in the four-belt era. He has stayed loud since. Over the past month he has revived his feud with unified super-welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis and started a fresh one with WBC welterweight titleholder Ryan Garcia.
The Ennis call-out was never serious, Crawford admits. It was a shot at how Ennis picks his fights.
I just made a valid point [when I called out Boots on social media]. You say you won’t fight Vergil [Ortiz Jr.] or Canelo because you are belt hunting, then you turn around and say you will fight a retired fighter?
It just made it clear as day that you don’t wanna fight Vergil at all.
Crawford sat ringside Saturday in Las Vegas as Garcia wiped out Conor Benn inside two rounds in his first WBC welterweight defense. Garcia went after Crawford at the post-fight press conference.
Both champions appear headed elsewhere. Garcia wants WBA welterweight ruler Teofimo Lopez. Ennis is chasing a third belt in a rumored November or December fight with IBF super-welterweight champion Josh Kelly.
