Ryan Garcia says Isaac Cruz gets one more chance, and that is it.
The WBC welterweight champion stopped Conor Benn inside two rounds on September 12 in Las Vegas and wants out again before the year ends. He has named Cruz as the target.
Cruz retained his WBC interim super-lightweight title by stopping Nestor Bravo this weekend and called Garcia out from the ring.
Hey, Ryan, I’m here. My next fight is for you. Come on, Ryan.
Garcia answered on social media with a screenshot of a message reading “send an offer.”
I’ve already given the go [ahead] to my attorney. If he rejects this time I will never give him another chance, you have my word.
He then laid out the history as he sees it.
To make this very clear to the fans, I’ve asked to fight pitbull twice and one time he was my mandatory and he has denied twice.
This will be my last time ever attempting to give him a chance. My word is very clear and I plan with my whole heart to follow it. If he denies I’ll never entertain this again.
There is a sanctioning hurdle. Garcia is in a voluntary phase of his reign, but Cruz is not ranked at 147lbs, so the WBC would have to approve him as a challenger.
Whoever Garcia fights next, talks for a unification with WBA champion Teofimo Lopez are said to be progressing, with early next year in Las Vegas the target.
