Ryan Garcia thinks Raymond Muratalla is the fighter to end Shakur Stevenson’s unbeaten record, provided the fight goes long enough.

Garcia was asked by FightHype how he would call it and gave a split answer based on distance.

That would be a good fight. He is smart, he is not going to just go in there and be reckless.

I just think that Raymond has a lot of things that would give Shakur problems. It won’t be an easy fight for Shakur, that is for sure.

If it was a three-round fight, I would give it to Shakur, even a six-round fight. A 12-round fight? I am siding with Muratalla.

Garcia has his own history with Stevenson. The two were linked for a fight in the spring that fell apart when Stevenson said he would not move up in weight again.

Stevenson took the WBO super-lightweight title from Teofimo Lopez in January and has not fought since. He had intended to return to lightweight before being stripped of his title at 135. He has since signed with Zuffa Boxing, the promotion run by Dana White and WWE President Nick Khan under TKO, and is looking for a second fight of the year.

Muratalla holds the IBF lightweight title and is expected to vacate it and move up to 140 shortly. The WBO has indicated he could be named as Stevenson’s mandatory challenger once he does. His trainer Robert Garcia said last week that Stevenson would be ducking a little if he insisted on the fight happening at lightweight.

Ryan Garcia defends the WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn on September 12 in Las Vegas.
