Ryan Garcia wants Gervonta Davis again, and he wants him at 147 pounds.
Garcia holds the WBC welterweight title. Davis has not fought since March 2025. In a new interview, Garcia said the rematch is worth more than a second fight with Devin Haney.
I feel like the Tank rematch is bigger than a Devin Haney rematch. He has to come up to 147. If he’s a man, he’d come up to welterweight. And then, when I beat him, we can have a trilogy.
Davis stopped Garcia in the seventh round in April 2023, in a fight contested at 136 pounds with a rehydration clause. Garcia has since pointed to that clause as the reason for the result.
His long-time adviser Al Haymon has indicated Davis is targeting a return in the first half of next year. Nothing has been announced.
Davis last fought Lamont Roach to a draw in March 2025, a decision that drew heavy criticism after Roach was denied a 10-8 round that would have won him the fight. A planned exhibition with Jake Paul was canceled.
Garcia is 27 and has had a mixed run since the Haney fight was overturned to a no contest. He lost a decision to Rolando Romero, then beat Mario Barrios. He defends the WBC title against Conor Benn on September 12.
Roach, meanwhile, lost to William Zepeda on Saturday in a fight for the vacant WBC lightweight title.
