Oscar De La Hoya knows who he wants Ryan Garcia to fight next.
Garcia has one fight left on his Golden Boy Promotions contract. Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, De La Hoya named Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez as the top options.
The guy that I wanted in the first place, Devin Haney, [is who I want him to fight].
Devin Haney and Teofimo are the biggest fights out there for Ryan and he is at an elite level right now. He is the guy who should be fighting the top guys and the very best.
So, a Teofimo or a Devin Haney is the perfect choice for him.
He said talks should start soon.
We are hoping that we can sit down fairly soon and map out the next fight for him, which should be massive.
Garcia stopped Conor Benn in the second round in September in his first defense of the WBC welterweight title.
Garcia and Haney met in April 2024. Garcia dropped Haney three times and won a majority decision, but the result was overturned to a no contest after Garcia tested positive for ostarine.
A Lopez fight may have to wait. The WBA has ordered Lopez to defend its welterweight title against Jack Catterall.
Garcia has been linked to a move to Zuffa Boxing once his Golden Boy deal ends. De La Hoya did not attend the Benn fight, which Golden Boy co-promoted with Zuffa.
