Mike Tyson is picking Tyson Fury to beat Anthony Joshua, and his reason is personal.
Speaking with Piers Morgan, the former heavyweight champion said he is backing Fury because Fury was named after him.
Tyson’s named after me, I’m always with Tyson. It would be nice [if he beats Joshua].
Fury and Joshua meet on Dec. 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, live on Netflix. The vacant WBA “super” heavyweight title is on the line, so the winner becomes a three-time heavyweight champion.
Fury goes in as the favorite. He beat Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision in April and beat Mariusz Wach in July when Wach retired on his stool after the seventh round.
Joshua was knocked down twice in the first round of his last fight before stopping Kristian Prenga in the second.
The ringwalks are expected around 1 a.m. U.K. time to suit American viewers.
