Joshua vs Fury looks like it is going to Wales.

Dan Rafael reports that the heavyweight fight is heading for Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, not New York.

Per source with direct involvement, [Joshua-Fury], if all is 100% buttoned up, will be on [December] 11 in Cardiff. Still will take some time to wrap up the bureaucracy of getting permits in place. [November] 28 and [December] 4 were also dates part of the discussion.

That is a reversal. Netflix and Turki Alalshikh, whose backing is financing the fight, had pushed for Madison Square Garden. Anthony Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn had already signed for a UK fight. For weeks it looked like New York was winning out.

Cardiff gets the nod over Wembley for a practical reason. The Principality has a roof, which matters for a December date in Britain.

Both men had warm-up fights in July. The bout is not formally announced yet, and Rafael notes that the permit work still needs to be finished.
