Tim Bradley could barely watch Errol Spence Jr’s final fight.
Spence returned from three years out to face Tim Tszyu in a middleweight bout in Australia on Saturday, and it went badly enough that he retired immediately after. Bradley, breaking the performance down on his YouTube channel, said it was painful viewing.
That was hard to watch, I’m not going to lie to y’all man. There was times when I was watching that —- and I felt like jumping through the T.V. and helping Spence.
To Bradley, it was a clear case of a fighter whose body could no longer answer the bell, no matter how willing his mind was.
His body betrayed his —- last night. It goes to show that, you know what, you can have that mental, but your body is going to do what it is going to do once that age sets in.
He was especially struck by how badly Spence’s balance had deserted him.
It looked like Spence was on ice skates at times when he got hit, his whole body trembled. His balance was all off, it was like he was in high heels or some —-. He was leaning forward, top-heavy.
Spence’s decline had been years in the making. His only previous loss came against Terence Crawford in their 2023 undisputed welterweight showdown, after which a long stretch of inactivity left many wondering if he’d fight again. He did, but the version that turned up against Tszyu was a shell of the unified champion he’d once been.
Tszyu took a unanimous decision and a career-best win, while Spence walked away for good at 36, finishing with a record of 28-2.
