Shannon Briggs says he is in talks to fight Tommy Fury.

The former WBO heavyweight champion made the claim in a social media video.

Just got off the phone. Negotiating a fight with Tommy Fury. All I can say is, Tommy don’t get scared now. Tell your daddy and your big brother I’m coming for you. You first, daddy second, other one third.

Briggs is 54 and has not boxed since May 2016. He won the WBO title in 2006 by stopping Siarhei Liakhovich in the twelfth round, then lost it seven months later to Sultan Ibragimov. He also held lineal recognition after outpointing George Foreman in November 1997, before Lennox Lewis stopped him in five the following March.

He has floated a number of fights over the past decade without following through on them.

Fury is 27 and turned to crossover bouts after starting his career on regular cards, beating Jake Paul in 2023, then KSI, and facing former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall earlier this year.

Nothing has been announced by either side.
