Derek Chisora has boxed 50 times and says the hardest he was ever hit came from Dillian Whyte.
Chisora told Jack Figg that the left hook Whyte finished him with in their 2018 rematch is the one he still remembers, and that it beats anything else he has taken. That includes Deontay Wilder, who he fought in April in what was the fiftieth professional bout for both men.
Whyte stopped Chisora in the eleventh round at the O2 Arena in December 2018, two years after edging their first meeting on a split decision. It was Chisora’s last fight before a career revival that began with a stoppage win over Carlos Takam.
Chisora turned professional in 2007 and went 14 fights unbeaten before losing a British title fight to Tyson Fury. Defeats to Robert Helenius, Vitali Klitschko and David Haye followed, along with a second loss to Fury.
The Wilder fight was billed as his retirement. Wilder took a split decision, 115-111 and 115-113 with one card for Chisora, and Chisora declined to confirm afterwards that he was finished, saying he would go home and think about it. His record stands at 36-14.
Whyte has 21 knockouts from 31 wins and challenged Fury for the WBC title in 2022. He has not recovered his standing since, most recently losing to Moses Itauma inside a round last August. He has said he would take a third fight with Chisora before either man retires.
