Conor McGregor and Terence Crawford engaged in a public back-and-forth on social media after McGregor defended Ilia Topuria from Crawford’s post-UFC Freedom 250 criticism and challenged the boxing champion for mocking an MMA fighter while refusing to step into a cage himself.
Crawford had posted a shot at Topuria following his corner stoppage loss to Justin Gaethje, referencing their previous exchange.
This the guy that said he would knock me out and whoop me and Shakur at the same time?
McGregor fired back by pointing to Crawford’s wrestling background and unwillingness to compete in MMA.
What the f— are you saying? You can wrestle yet you are afraid of an MMA fight. That to me is pitiful. The kid was beaten in an MMA fight, of which you don’t have the courage for. What the f— was with all these little boxers at this show yet no MMA fighters? These boys ain’t man enough.
Crawford responded on X.
Shut yo drunk a— up and get ready for yo fight. He got his a— whooped like you did running yo mouth. I don’t have to come and fight in the cage. That’s the joy of boxing — y’all come to us, we don’t have to come to y’all.
McGregor replied: “Don’t be scared, homie. MMA KINGS LIKE US.” Crawford then posted that boxing “is still and will forever be the hardest sport to do at a top level,” to which McGregor answered: “I guess we’ll never know.”
