Chris Eubank Jr’s bitter rivalry with Conor Benn apparently doesn’t extend to Benn’s opponents and he’s rooting against him tonight.
Benn returns to welterweight for the first time since 2022 to challenge Ryan Garcia for the WBC title, having spent the time since fighting as high as middleweight against Eubank himself.
Their history was contentious from the start. An initial catchweight bout fell apart after Benn failed two doping tests, before the pair finally met twice in 2025 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Eubank winning a Fight of the Year contender via decision before Benn evened the score in the rematch.
Benn was then named mandatory challenger for the WBC welterweight title despite his time away from the division.
Given how personal that rivalry got, Eubank’s message hours before Benn’s title shot stood out and he posted a brief note on social media backing Garcia to win.
Garcia enters as the favorite to retain his title, looking to build on the form that got him past Mario Barrios while avoiding a repeat of his lone loss in the division, to Rolando Romero.
Benn, meanwhile, is chasing his first stoppage win since 2022 and enters without the rehydration clause that limited him in his fights with Eubank, having already added weight back on after making 147 pounds at the weigh-in.
