Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury At Wembley Has New Complication

A potential Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight at Wembley Stadium faces a logistical hurdle around the venue’s 11 p.m. curfew, though the London Borough of Brent’s council leader has described a curfew extension as “doable” — provided the right approvals are sought.

The issue centers on Turki Alalshikh’s preference for the bout to begin in the early hours of the morning to accommodate American broadcast audiences, according to BBC Sport.

Any change to Wembley’s curfew would require approval from both the stadium’s safety advisory group, of which Brent Council is a partner, and the local authority itself. However, as of this writing, no stakeholders involved in the Joshua-Fury negotiations have yet contacted either party about the curfew change.

The saga continues to unfold slowly, with Fury scheduled to fight the 46-year-old Mariusz Wach in Thailand on July 24 as a tune-up, and Joshua facing Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia the following day.

Joshua’s existing contract stipulates the fight must take place in the UK, though a US venue remains in discussion. The dispute over who will actually promote the fight also continues, with Eddie Hearn and Dana White publicly at odds over their respective roles.
