“Always Wrong” – White Hints He’s Involved With Fury vs. Joshua

ByThomas AlbanoProfessional Boxing Journalist

Dana White, the UFC CEO and President, and the head of Zuffa Boxing, has hinted that those who believe he won’t be involved with Tyson Fury and his matchup with Anthony Joshua might want to think otherwise.

Fury made a surprise appearance at the UFC White House event held on June 14. Fury made a walkout from the White House and did a small interview with UFC play-by-play broadcaster Jon Anik.

Anik teased a surprise announcement forthcoming and asked Fury if he wanted to reveal it. Fury, however, said he would let White make the reveal.

White, ultimately, did not reveal any news. He, however, seemed to indicate potential involvement with Fury — whether that be a full-fledged signing or some other kind of involvement with Fury’s upcoming November matchup with fellow former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been hearing from the media and other people that I’m not involved in the fight,” White said at the UFC Freedom 250 post-fight press conference. “I’ve been hearing that Tyson Fury couldn’t get out of the country and couldn’t get into the United States. And it just seems like everybody’s always wrong…”

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn recently made comments to ESPN suggesting that he personally handled negotiations for Fury vs. Joshua himself, and that White has no involvement in the process.

Hearn claimed that the contract states ZUFFA Boxing cannot be a promoter for the fight and that the fight must take place in the UK.

Zuffa Boxing had its first non-US card on June 6, taking place in England.

Fury returned to the ring back in April, defeating Arslanbek Makhmudov. It was his first fight since retiring from boxing after a pair of undisputed title fights with Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.
